BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning student Carla Haines recently travelled to Birmingham through treacherous snow conditions to accept her award for winning the 2011 Under 23 National Mountain Bike Championships.

Supported by the UCP Marjon Elite Sports Scholarships programme, Carla receives help to continue with her sporting career without compromising her education.

In addition to financial help, UCP Marjon assists with sports therapy, nutritional advice, sports psychology support, coaching and mentoring support and personal athlete support.

Carla's next 'big' competition is the first round of the National Mountain Bike Series at Sherwood Pines, Nottingham on the 25th March.
