LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN ADULT LITERACY

The Level 2 Certificate in Adult Literacy is awarded by EDI and is equivalent to an English GCSE at Grades A to C.  UCP Marjon will accept the Level 2 Certificate in Adult Literacy for students who do not hold a GCSE qualification in English at Grades A to C.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS QUALIFICATION IS NOT SUITABLE/ACCEPTED FOR INITIAL TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMMES OR SWIFT FUNDED PROGRAMMES.

Marjon Open Learning Unit provides diagnostic and testing facilties for this qualification:

Diagnostics

  • The diagnostic exam is optional for students, however it is recommended prior to testing
  • The diagnostic exam provides feedback on your literacy level, areas of strength and highlights areas that need improvement
  • A diagnostic exam is £30 and will take at least 2 hours to complete
  • Online resources are provided to support students and prepare them for the exam
  • Diagnostic exams can be taken any time during our opening hours; please contact the Unit to book a session - see opening hours below

Testing

  • Contact us to book a mutually agreed date for your Literacy Level 2 exam
  • Students will have to book at least 2 weeks in advance for the exam by completing the Exam Registration Form below and returning it to the Unit
  • Cost of exam is £30 which is paid prior to taking the exam
  • Photo ID is required for Exam Registration and day of exam
  • Exam re-sits are £30 per exam

A member of staff will be available from 9:00am to 8:00pm on Monday and Tuesday, 9:00am to 3:00pm on Wednesday to Friday to respond to telephone and email enquiries.
