UCP Marjon announces new partnership with Soran University

UCP Marjon have signed a contract with Soran University, Soran City, Erbil, Kurdistan-Iraq to establish a Centre for Language and Academic Development (CLAD) at a ceremony attended by more than 150 delegates including the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Kurdistan, Professor  Dlawer Ala’Aldeen at the Pank Resort in Soran on Tuesday 25 October.

The new Centre, which is being established and jointly staffed by the two institutions, will offer a range of English language courses to staff and students and staff development programmes for Soran University Staff.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Muslih Mustafa, President of Soran University, said:

“We have met many universities but felt that the experience, commitment and enthusiasm of UCP Marjon staff and the shared vision between the two institutions made this an ideal partnership to support Soran’s ambitions to be a leading and the most innovative University in Kurdistan”.  

Professor Margaret Noble, Principal of UCP Marjon said:

“We are delighted to be working with Soran University on this innovative project. The new Centre will be the first of its kind in Kurdistan and marks the start of a relationship to develop English Language Skills and to share innovative approaches to teaching and learning for the benefits of students and staff of the  University”.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research,  Professor Dlawar Ala’Aldeen commented:

“I am fully supportive of this initiative which underpins the vision of Higher Education as set out in A Roadmap to Quality and  the investment in the human resources needed to support the future development of  university education  in Kurdistan”.
