BA (Hons) International Event and Sport Management
Introduction
This course seeks to equip students with the theoretical knowledge, understanding and practical skills to optimise their performance in sport and event management both in the UK and in an international context. Students will be engaged through the theoretical study of management principles and their application to both sport and event management in a variety of contexts.

Optional Pathways
Additional pathways are available to students who wish to build a degree programme based upon their levels of interest, capabilities and future employment aspirations. In addition to the core, prescriptive Sport and Event Management modules, students can take additional pathways in International, Sport and Leisure Management, and Sports Development.
Entry Requirements
Our typical offer for applicants with A levels/AS levels/BTEC is 240 points. Students with an A level or equivalentpass in either:
PE/Sports Studies or Business/Management Studies (not necessary for BTEC applicants) and another A-level or equivalents are encouraged to apply.
- Other similar qualifications may be considered on an individual basis
- A CRB check is also required.

Module Information
Year 1
In year 1 you will be introduced to the central concepts of International Event and Sport Management. Modules will include: An Introduction to International Perspectives of Sport; Operational Sport Management; Principles and Practices of Event Management; and Sponsorship and Marketing of Sport. Students will also have the opportunity to study across several shared areas on various sports-related degrees in order to gain a basic underpinning knowledge on numerous disciplines that impact upon the Sport and Event Management processes, including; Foundations of Coaching, Teaching, Instructing and Communication; and Applied Health and Fitness. These disciplines are supported by a module in Professional, Personal and Academic Development.
Year 2
Year 2 focuses on developing the depth of knowledge and application studied in year one and preparing students to undertake an individual study in year three. It will also give you the opportunity to begin to specialise in a particular area of event management (i.e. sport or live music). Compulsory modules include: Research Methods and Work-Based Learning. Students will be expected to choose two modules in Semester A from: Managing Live Music Events; Managing Sports Events; Sport and Leisure Policy. In Semester B students will be expected to choose two modules from: Marketing and Public Relations; Practical Sports Development; Consumer Experiences in Sport, Leisure and Outdoor Adventure; International Comparative Studies
N.B. It is expected that students will complete at least one semester abroad during year two.
Year 3
Year 3 allows you to focus on speciļ¬c aspects of Sport or Event Management, and further develop your knowledge and understanding of your preferred area of event management. You will be empowered to work more independently. Students must choose two modules in Semester A from: Programme Management; Leadership; Resource Management and Sports Governance; Sport and Excellence; Broadcast Journalism; and Applied Issues in Leisure and Recreation. In Semester B students will be expected to choose two modules from: International Perspectives of Sport; Strategic Sport Management; Managing in the Live Music Industry; Leisure, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship; Media Marketing; and Applied Sport Development. Students will also be expected to undertake an independent study, thus the degree programme culminates in a Dissertation/Honours-level Project.

Additional Information
All students are encouraged to undertake at least one semester abroad with our partner institutions in Florida during the second year of their studies. Other international opportunities will be available for both study and placement. This programme is suitable for those students who will be both capable and confident enough to flourish in an international context. National Governing Body awards and accreditations are organised and delivered throughout the 3 years of study and will provide students with an opportunity to gain a variety of industry recognised qualifications in order to enhance their degree programme and employability.
